Bash Box
One for those who enjoy whiling away time in the kitchen, Bash Box is a lockdown labour of love by husband and wife team Roisin O’Sullivan and Gary Boylan that has made planning even the most involved meals a cinch. Choose from a Mexican street feast (including the much revered tamales), Middle Eastern mezze and stuffed roast chicken or one of the Indian feasts. Be warned, these meal kits involve cooking from scratch but every single hard to source ingredient you will need is included. The results are well worth the effort and the food is more than plentiful, and there is an innate feeling of accomplishment when you sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labour. There is also an option to buy a ‘cook later’ bow which includes all the non-perishable items you need to create your masterpiece on a future date. www.bashbox.ie
Etto
On Dublin’s Merrion Row, Etto has reopened for collection and the set menu for two people starting at €62 would certainly make Friday night’s dinner memorable. Smoked almonds and marinated Nocellara olives will pair nicely with a cold Fino sherry this weekend and there is also a Salumi plate, a starter of Jerusalem artichoke barigoule, and options to add their famous hashed potatoes with Lyonnaise onions which is always a good choice. www.etto.ie
Mister S
In other exciting news, Dublin favourite Mister S is back with their delicious selection of smoked and grilled meats and meals for collection or delivery. Their Bo Ssam feast caused quite the stir last year and we have it under good advisement that it will return but for now, think grilled prawns, smoked pork or beef and piri piri chicken along with burnt end rending spring rolls and Tunisian orange cake. www.misters.ie
Tartare Café and Wine Bar
In Galway, chef JP McMahon is offering a limited take away menu from Tartare Café and Wine Bar. This weekend, enjoy six oysters and a bottle of specially selected organic cava would make an indulgent low key weekend treat whatever the weather. JP is also running online cooking classes should your kitchen skills need a brush up. www.eatgalway.ie
Lignum a Casa
Staying in the west, the much lauded Lignum Restaurant (pictured above) are feeding hungry patrons at home with the Lignum a Casa menu available for collection. Wood fired sourdough with cultured butter followed by 48 hour braised short rib would be an enviable meal to enjoy at home on any occasion, especially when finished with Woodruff crème caramel. www.instagram.com/lignumrestaurant
The Wild Goose Grill
In Ranelagh, The Wild Goose Grill are back this weekend offering their Goose To Go service with their excellent value Sunday lunch menu available for collection, including their signature duo of goose dish and the very indulgent scallop gratin in a creamy chowder sauce topped with mashed potato and a parmesan crumb. There is also great value on their wines with 40% off the listed price, meaning there is no excuse not to indulge in something extra special this weekend. www.thewildgoosegrill.ie
Grano a Casa
Finally, if you should happen to reach Sunday evening and the fridge is looking bare, might we suggest indulging in some excellent pasta sauces from Grano in Stoneybatter, the ultimate in comfort food. Grano a Case is available for collection and a steaming bowl of their cacio e pepe with your favourite box set is a celebration of a different kind – the simple pleasure of pasta and cheese is truly one we can all relate to right now. Don’t forget the tiramisu or the nduja di spilinga which is becoming a lockdown fridge essential. Buon appetito! www.grano.ie
