FASHION ON FILM: Meanwhile, Sadie Frost will make her directorial debut with Quant, a documentary about the designer Mary Quant; pioneer of the mini-skirt, pin-up of the swinging sixties movement. We love her for irreverent quotes like, “Coco Chanel hated me…I can understand why!” The piece combines archival footage with dramatised scenes to tell the life of Quant, who is brought to life by actress Camilla Rutherford. The film debuts at London Film Festival this week and goes on general release at the end of this month. (Watch the trailer for Quant below.) We predict hemlines will rise. Not that we needed much excuse to embrace a pair of thick tights, chunky boots and a playful flash of leg.
