EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert
Legendary filmmaker Baz Luhrmann originally sought out unseen footage of Elvis Presley from Elvis: That’s the Way It Is and Elvis on Tour for the 2022 biopic Elvis. Sixty-eight boxes of footage were found in the Warner Bros archives in salt mines in Kansas, including outtakes from both films, plus the iconic “gold jacket” performance from Hawaii in 1957. However, there was no sound. Over the next two years, Luhrmann’s team restored and synced the footage to existing audio sources and unheard interviews. Exclusively in IMAX cinemas on February 20 and for general release on February 27, Variety calls it “one of the most exciting concert films you’ve ever seen … Elvis in the raw, driven by the awareness that it doesn’t get any better than that”.
