Women on style lessons they learned from each other. The founders behind Sisterly have moved away from corporate dressing and found a new relaxed style …
Since founding Sisterly (a premium female-focused supplement brand, which launches this month with its first product, The Elevator) the three energetic business partners – Aoife Matthews, Jennifer O’Connell and Louise O’Riordan, based between Dublin, Madrid and Los Angeles – have all been transitioning away from corporate dressing to something a little more relaxed, fun and individual.
“We each admire the others’ style; maybe that’s why we often overlap, in a sort of fashion Venn diagram,” they say. “We all know the value of classic jeans, blazers, shirts and trainers. We have even found ourselves all in white shirts on a Zoom call – styled slightly differently!”
Jennifer on Aoife and Louise: “Aoife does everything at speed so she wears trainers with jeans and blazer or a dress with low-heeled Isabel Marant ankle boots. Her look is influenced by time living in Spain and London – classic with a cool twist. When we were living in NYC, Sex and the City was big and Louise was Carrie to my Miranda. She always has the most stunning bags and accessories – she’s like a magpie, she just knows the right pieces to invest in. Since moving to LA, her look has become more laidback; she’s introduced me to LA brands like James Perse.”
Louise on Aoife and Jennifer: “Aoife is so tall: whether in flats or heels she always looks put together. She never gives into fast fashion but rather invests in great quality and has the best gold jewellery. Having worn suits for years, while practicing law in New York, Jenny’s daytime style is now more relaxed, chic: a jumpsuit or blazer with jeans. She never wears much make-up but always looks polished.”
Aoife on Louise and Jennifer: “LA life really suits Louise and this shines through in the way she dresses. She can carry off things that no one else can, like an all-white jumpsuit – totally LA – she looks fabulous in it! Jenny is an amazing athlete but you never see her hanging out in her sports gear. After an early-morning training session, she literally runs home for a quick shower and change and is online five minutes later, no make-up, but still looking absolutely gorgeous.”
