Nunaïa Founder Nicola Connolly Talks Irish Beauty

On how Ireland inspires, how she keep paces with the industry and what’s coming next …

What’s new?We’ve been busy behind the scenes with Nunaïa. We’ve been investing heavily in testing the efficacy of our products: scientific testing to back up what we’ve always known – that our plant-based formulations really work. Our products are rooted in the ancestral wisdom of plants that have stood the test of time, and now the results speak for themselves. In lab tests, women using our Earth Blossom Moisturising Cream saw real, visible changes – wrinkles reduced by 30 per cent, wrinkle length reduced by 27 percent and pore area reduced by 23 percent in just 28 days. Their skin looked smoother and more refined. That’s pretty incredible for a 100 per cent plant-based, natural product that rivals larger cosmeceutical brands.” 

*Testing carried out in a 3rd party research institute on a panel of 25 female volunteers over a period of 12 weeks.

How do you stay relevant in a crowded market, and keep pace with trends? “Nunaïa Beauty is all about ‘slow beauty’ and a less-is-more approach, so we are the antithesis of a trend-driven brand. We focus on a limited number of high-quality, high-performance products developed with intention, purposeand integrity rather than launching new products to capitalise on trends. We are the opposite of the ‘fast skincare’ model driven by newness and instead focus on using the highest quality, most potent superfood ingredients that deliver long-lasting skin health and make our customers feel amazing.”

What impact does your location/environment have on the brand? “Everything! Nunaïa began high in the Andes Mountains of Peru where the incredible landscape and diversity inspired the creation of our range. For the past few years, we have been based on the shores of Lough Derg. Our office looks out across the lake, teabreaks are spent wandering in nature and we are in constant connection with the changing seasons and cycles. This allows us to hold onto our integrity as a mindful skincare brand and really stay rooted in nature, her wisdom and what’s important in life.”

What are your plans for 2026? “We have been working on exciting plans for 2026 which I can’t say too much about just yet but stay tuned…”

What’s your favourite Irish brand? “I really look forward to my seasonal treatments with Agnes Gajewska. I love her natural, no-nonsense approach to beauty and positive ageing.” www.nunaia.com
