Eighties inspired, earrings are continuing to get bigger and bigger. Trust original OTT icons Versace to be on the bandwagon but Dolce & Gabbana are executing this trend perfectly, taking the heart motif as seen on their runway bags directly to our ears.
Speaking of runways, Tory Burch went very big on her catwalk earrings – some of which were full crystal heart studs, instantly coveted by anyone who saw them. Thankfully, she still has some available on her own site, along with sweet drop versions complete with metal bows attached.
Alessandra Rich, queen of the glamorous gown, has issued sparkling, crystal encrusted hearts for a few seasons now; this winter’s offering is no different but we love the addition of the oversized pearl for a spot-on nod to the original New Romantic vibe.

River Island, as always, have come up trumps when it comes to a really accessible version – they have both giant studs and chandelier versions ready to go for every party in the diary. At the other end of the spectrum is one of my favourite fine jewellers, Irene Neuwirth – her double flat hearts are huge, with a price tag to match (they are solid 18ct gold) but with so many other fun varieties on the market there’s no reason not to test this trend out with a costume pair first.
