Nautical style saturated the SS22 catwalks. Although nothing new; Breton stripes, summer-weight mariner sweaters and naval jackets, this season’s sea-inspired style has had a fashionable, casual update. Designers like Virginie Viard at Chanel, Raf Simons and Miuccia P at Prada as well as Vivienne Westwood (98 per cent of the collection’s fabrics were low-impact and cruelty-free with no virgin synthetic fabrics) showcased the maritime trend via chunky-stripe sailor pants, button-through ticking stripe skirts and knot-print cardigans with lashings of freshwater pearls for extra measure (check out Angela Scanlon’s Frkl demi-fine collection of pearl jewellery at Brown Thomas Create, Dublin).
