Lots of Sparkle: Why We’re Browsing This Fine Jewellery Auction

From dazzling rings to designer wrist watches and sparkling earrings, this upcoming fine jewellery auction offers investment pieces and plenty of bargains for collectors

Having selected some favourite lots from the forthcoming Fine Jewellery and Watches auction at Adam’s, Dublin, who better to comment on our selections than Claire-Laurence Mestrallet, director and head of the jewellery and watches department.

Lot 1: A stainless steel “Arceau” wristwatch by Hermès, 2021. Estimate €1,200.00 – €1,800.
This watch is in immaculate condition and must have only been worn once or twice since it was bought in December 2021.

Lot 7: A silver “Kelly Gourmette” bracelet by Hermès. Estimate €500 – €700.
This bracelet is in mint condition and retails for €1,500.

Lot 104: A peridot and diamond cocktail ring by Marchak, c1965. Estimate €12,000 – €18,000.
This peridot has such great colour and saturation, and the peridot is a great size, approximately 17cts. It was made in the 1960s, yet looks so contemporary. Marchak is definitely a great name for jewellery connoisseurs and is a great piece to own and start a collection, while wearing and enjoying it at the same time.

Lot 30: An early 20th-century sapphire and diamond dress ring, c1920. Estimate €5,000 – €6,000.
This ring dates back to c1920 – its intricate mount makes it so feminine and the main sapphire has a beautiful cornflower blue hue with great saturation. I love this ring.

Lot 113: A coloured sapphire and diamond cluster ring. Estimate: €6,000 – €8,000.
This ring is a real showstopper. The main stone is approximately 12cts; I had it laboratory certified to confirm what I expected – it is of Ceylon (Sri Lankan) origin with no treatment. A trained eye can also see that this yellow sapphire is from another era. The colour is really lovely and well spread and the design is a classic. It’s a great alternative to a blue sapphire cluster ring for someone who appreciates big stones and colour.

Lot 109: A diamond sautoir necklace. Estimate €14,000 – €18,000.
This sautoir can be worn with everything – from a casual shirt or to an LBD for a cocktail party. It has approximately 6.00cts total of diamonds, it is 18K gold and has a lovely weight to it.

Lot 127: An important “Ultra” diamond and ceramic cuff bracelet by Chanel, c2010. Estimate: €40,000 – €50,000.
This cuff is a must try on. It’s such a comfortable and fashionable piece and usually retails from €95,000-€100,000 at Chanel – that’s if you can get your hands on one!

Lot 133: An aquamarine and diamond dress ring. Estimate €1,500 – €2,000.
This is a classic piece for everyday wear and is especially covetable now that summer is here!

Lot 166: A pair of amethyst, turquoise and diamond earrings by Marguerita Burgener. Estimate: €3,000 – €4,000.
Titanium is a new metal used by many contemporary designers and is very light which is great for earrings. You forget you have them on as they’re so comfortable. These earrings have such great summer colours.

Lot 238: A tanzanite, onyx and diamond cocktail ring. Estimate: €5,500 – €6,500.
An absolutely gorgeous cocktail ring. The tanzanite is top quality and the onyx give it such a different look than what’s on the market these days.
