Let THE GLOSS Vintage-Style City Wedding Inspire Your Own

THE GLOSS Deputy Editor Síomha Connolly, and Bambino Director and Co-Owner Shane Windrim’s classic city wedding with a nod to nostalgia

“My wedding dress is a vintage bias-cut silk dress, it’s unlabelled but likely from the 1930s. I bought it from a seller on Etsy who was based in the US. I loved the idea of having something completely unique and that had a story of its own before it was mine. I had some minor alterations done by Kathleen at Paul Henry in Dublin 2, who also made my veil. Shane’s tuxedo was custom made by Australian label P Johnson – we had a very special experience at the studio in London, where Shane was able to collaborate with the tailor on design details and customisations.

For our reception, we wanted the feeling of a very large dinner party. No specific venue that we saw had the right vibe so we decided to hire a blank space and create it ourselves.

Having done a lot of DIY the day before and in the lead-up to the wedding, walking into The Chocolate Factory and seeing the vision come to life and the room filled with all our favourite people was amazing. We opted for two long tables that ran the length of the room so it felt really intimate. We had a three-piece jazz band playing throughout cocktail hour while canapés were served. Since Shane is a chef, good food was a must. Our guests are still talking about the meal, which was all down to our friend and chef Keith Coleman (@keithjamescoleman) who went above and beyond. And in lieu of a wedding cake, we asked our friends at Scéal Bakery (@scealbakery) to make big vats of tiramisu and served them tableside.”

Long tables dotted with pillar candles create an intimate atmosphere.

Fresh oysters were served with Guinness and champagne during cocktail hour.

Síomha carried a bouquet of fresh white parrot tulips.
