Guinness x JW Anderson Is Back – And Bigger Than Ever

The second collaboration between Guinness and JW Anderson presents a fresh spin on Guinness iconography …

Back by popular demand, the second collaboration between JW Anderson and Guinness has dropped. Growing from four pieces to a 17-piece collection, the limited-edition drop heroes unisex clothing such as chore jackets, bowling shirts, knits, scarves as well as JW Anderson’s signature twisted utility trousers which come bearing a harp motif.

Fronting the campaign is British actor Joe Alwyn and Mercury Prize winner Little Simz. Will it sell out? Judging by its previous success, most likely. A carpet-print knitted jumper is made in the United Kingdom but, favourably, two other wool jumpers – one is The Guinness Gradient jumper which is inspired by the settling head of a pint – are made in Ireland. The aforementioned carpet jumper echoes the “textures and warmth of traditional pub carpets, and the connections forged in these spaces, translated into a design rich in tactility and story”. A distinctive shirt and shorts, both made from towelling, nod to the bar towels often found on a pub counter.

Playing with Guinness iconography is key. A white shirt features a poem first printed in a 1938 Guinness advertisement. “I’ve always been fascinated by the graphic language of Guinness – it’s so immediate, so culturally loaded, yet incredibly refined. For me, this collaboration felt like an opportunity to take that heritage and recontextualise it through the craft-led lens that defines JW Anderson today,” Anderson says.
