As autumn has officially started, it’s time to think about getting your home prepared for the incoming season: consider your entrance hall when preparing for the cooler autumn nights ahead. The hallway is the first opportunity to set the scene. First, add a fresh doormat (inside and out) and boot remover (or free-standing welly and boot rack). Then, if you have the space, consider a small chair or bench with a cosy throw draped over it (though make sure this does not become a dumping ground as the family walks in the door each day!) Place a neat coat rack on the wall as you enter but limit the amount of coats this should hold, you don’t want your winter layers to take over the entire entryway. Add a mirror or piece of art on the opposite wall and as a final touch, hang a floral wreath in autumnal shades on the external door to welcome you home.
