Irish Fashion Insiders On The Spring Trends They Can’t Wait To Wear

See what’s on the wish list of these Irish fashion insiders. And shop their top picks …

Perhaps the only thing that ranks on the same excitement level as planning your new season wish list is seeing what others have on theirs. There’s nothing quite like a little wardrobe voyeurism to get the creative juices flowing. Seeing the new season through the eyes of others always inspires; an outfit you hadn’t previously thought of comes to life, an OTT trend suddenly might become more wearable, a previously unimagined colour combination seeds in your brain. We asked these Irish fashion insiders – who trade in excellent taste – what they’re lusting after for the season ahead.

A trend that I’m delighted to see this season is the miniskirt. My legs have always been my favourite feature, though sometimes I feel a bit overdone walking around Dublin in my minis, so I’m excited to embrace them in spring. The beauty of the mini is that it looks just as good with tights or bare legs, and with jumpers or slinky little tops. Miu Miu really set the tone for spring summer 22 with the slew of low rise, micro miniskirts, though they’re not for the faint of heart. I’m loving all the skirts at Miaou and The Attico this season, too. @laura_ogrady

The Goji leather handbag with bamboo top handle by Jil Sander is my go-to. The only problem is that I can’t decide on which colour, they are all so perfect. For me, it’s the minimalistic bag design paired with the vintage-style frame and top handle: the perfect juxtaposition. It’s both ladylike and modern and you could pair it with any look. It’s a total modern classic. @aislinncoffeystyleeditor

We’re craving a pair of wide-leg pleated trousers this season – and these ones from Ganni are spot on. As well as being obsessed with the rose colour, the corduroy fabric makes them an excellent transitional piece for spring. There are so many ways to wear them – whether it’s pairing them with fun platform heels (another key spring trend) or dressing them down with a tee and trainers. @greensaregoodforyou

This moodstone gathered maxi dress from Christopher Esber is high on my wishlist this season. The sleeveless silhouette is embellished with handcrafted mood stone hardware, and as soon as I saw it I was reminded of the movie My Girl — one of my favourites as a kid. Vada, the movie’s central character really cherishes her beloved mood ring, and of course, I’ve always wanted one. Sure, this isn’t a ring like Vada’s, but I think it’s an incredibly chic interpretation! I’ll wear it with chunky sandals for day as soon as the weather warms. It’s too special to save ‘for best’.” @kennedso

I’m trying to practice what I preach and only buy independent or ethically made labels, or items that are produced with quality in mind. It means I am buying less seasonally and just purchasing a special piece every so often. I am lusting after a Conor O’Brien hand knit Aran gilet, which is stocked at the Rathmines boutique Beautiful South. I love the boldness of the stitches he uses but also that it’s a very wearable piece; its sleeveless shape also means it’s trans-seasonal. I love the traditional Aran cream colour as, although it’s not technically a summer piece, I will be layering it for those colder summer days we get here in Ireland. O’Brien makes them to order and we are actually doing a swap – I’m making him a bespoke Kimono Shirt, which makes it all the sweeter.  @cleoprickett_womenswear
