Inside An Art Lovers’ Apartment Designed By Sara Cosgrove
By The Gloss
A colourful pied-à-terre in Dublin …
Timber floors and inset marble for maximum impact on arrival in the hallway.
Interior designer Sara Cosgrove was commissioned to craft a pied-à-terre that would serve as a comfortable and stylish base for a couple with a true appreciation for texture, art and crafted design.
Custom joinery with electric fireplace, Samsung Art TV and marble details.
Conceived as both a bolthole and a convivial space for entertaining, the apartment reflects the spirited ethos of its owners who have a real zest for life, travel and culture.
Cohesive kitchen living space with built in baguette seating to maximise space.
They asked Sara to create a dynamic and layered space, so based on this the design narrative was shaped around three principles: comfort, atmosphere and authenticity.
Removed kitchen Island seating and adding storage to the banquette seating.
An uplifting, curated palette sets the tone, drawing from both modernist influences and the couple’s art.
The perfect spot for a 5 0’clock cocktail overlooking the Dublin coastline. Swivel armchairs for best use of space and a beautiful Diana Copperwaite print.
Sara used a mix of craftsman led and custom designed furniture and furnishings, including a custom one-off rug in the main living area.
Clever use of space creating the home office in a small space with mirror to reflect light and add interest. Feels like a separate space without closing it off.
Custom furnishings and artisanal detailing create a tactile, immersive experience, while strategic spatial planning in the available space ensures the home transitions effortlessly from intimate weekday living to vibrant social gatherings.
The master bedroom maximises the narrow space with a custom headboard.
Throughout, the interplay of colour, texture and materiality was carefully choreographed to achieve a sense of refined vibrancy.
Custom Burrell wood chest of drawers.
Compact guest bedroom, with fun use of colour and print.
