Cliodhna Prendergast, the fantastic food and travel writer and photographer has teamed up with portrait and documentary photographer, Doreen Kilfeather, and chef and creator, Katie Sanderson, to organise a renewed series of workshops in Ireland. These workshops encompass everything these women love; travel, learning, photography, friendship, conversation and food. They are suitable for anyone interested in photography, who want to develop their photographic skills, be it for personal or professional reasons.

Their first workshop of this series, Maiden Voyage, is taking place this weekend, from September 29 to October 2 on the scenic coast of Connemara. Maiden Voyage will be a slower-paced retreat where people have time to take everything in. A small group will come together and enjoy a not-too-pressing schedule. One can expect fantastic food, fireside chats, soft rain on the skin and salt in your hair. You can engage fully in all aspects of the retreat or take a step back to simply observe and absorb the experience. It is the perfect retreat for those interested in experiential travel and in connecting with a place and its community, while exploring photography in a nurturing environment.

Cliodhna will gently guide participants in editorial, story-led photography, while Doreen Kilfeather will share her incredible skills in portraiture and Katie will demonstrate her fantastic knowledge and abilities in cooking, with a bounty of local and seasonal Irish ingredients.

Accomodation: The base for the workshop will be in the new, beautifully curated ‘Within the Village’ suites in the heart of the fishing village of Roundstone.

Activites: There will be expert photography tutorials and delectable food demonstrations. One of the days, the group will sail in a traditional leath bhad (a small traditional Galway Hooker sailing boat), picnic on the deserted island of Inis Lacken, swim in the sea (only if you want to!) eat well and talk and laugh a lot.

Whats on offer: Three nights of luxury accomodation, three dinners, breakfast and two lunches. A trip in the Galway Hooker, photography tutorials, food demonstrations and wine, beer and beverages, other than the pub.
