We’re well into sandal season and it’s easy to overlook caring for our feet in advance. Here are some quick and easy ways to get your feet in good condition, fast.
Keep an eye on Instagram for nail trends: nail pro @harrietwestmoreland is the name to know right now, famed for her chic, minimal take on the French manicure, and we also love nail artist @betina_goldstein on Instagram. For wild and wonderful, see Dublin’s own @tropicalpopical. For the brightest nails, we love Zara Beauty nail colour in Full Kit, a zingy bright cherry red that really pops on darker skin tones (€5.95; www.zara.com).
We highly recomend Tiffany Nails in Blackrock for a pedicure, from €14 – go for their signature treatment including foot massage and exfoliation plus file and polish, €35 (01 283 6786; Tiffany Nails Blackrock). Other options include Edvard & Pink in Dundrum Town Centre for a Margaret Dabbs pedicure (€80, 60 minutes; www.edvardandpink.ie), and Mink Dublin, from €45 for a mini pedicure using their own range of rose-scented products; www.Mink.ie.
Save your soles
We may be good at moisturising our face and hands, but what about feet? At this time of year, they need a bit of extra help. We’ve discovered that the ever-versatile AVEENO Skin Relief Nourish & Repair Cica Balm (€7.85) is brilliant for feet, too – this multitasking balm, great for repairing any dry or chapped skin, doubles as a foot treatment. Just apply before bed and cover with socks to wake up to the softest feet. And don’t forget to moisturise your legs, too – the AVEENO Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion with Menthol (from €6.12) is beautifully cooling and soothing on dry skin.
Invest in a good foot file – our pick is Margaret Dabbs Professional Foot File (€31.50) – and use it sparingly. Also, the luxurious Manicure & Pedicure Set, €160.50 is a gift for life, with professional tools in a neat case. We’re keen to try the new Patchology PoshPeel Pedi Cure Intensive Foot Peel Treatment, €12.50 (all at Brown Thomas), an active treatment that dissolves dead skin on your feet with powerful acids. Try also Seoulista Beauty’s Rosy Toes Instant Pedicure (€13, at Harvey Nichols), with rose oil and aloe vera to restore dry and neglected feet.
Now you’re ready for your summer shoes. We have our eye on stylish new Dublin store DOPL on Wicklow Street – the Rick Owens x Birkenstocks in the window are things of both beauty and practicality; www.dopl.ie. Or these Acne leather flipflops (€301 in the sale) at www.HarveyNichols.com.
