How To Look Good On A Zoom Call, According To Inès de la Fressange

No one looks good on a computer or telephone screen – whether you’re a model or not, says Inès de la Fressange. But here are some tips to try …

Inès De La Fressange, Model, Designer

No one looks good on a computer or telephone screen – whether you’re a model or not, says Inès. After two years of trying, and learning the hard way, she has it nailed! “Position lighting elements in line with your face to soften shadows. Choose a white light – a LED lamp works well – and add a second light source in the background. Even out your complexion with a light liquid foundation or a BB cream to make your skin look bright and clear. Apply an orange colour-correcting concealer to minimise undereye circles and a green colour-correcting concealer to hide redness. Define the eyebrows, using a pencil or powder to fill in any gaps. Use an eyelash curler and mascara to open up the eye and make you look more awake. Avoid dark lipstick; go for natural-looking lips. Use a clean and tidy background. Keep it simple, and make sure there’s nothing distracting or unsightly in view (put that laundry away). Find a flattering camera angle. Your colleagues don’t want to see your nostrils. Test the video conference link and get all your documents ready in advance.”

Inés’ Feel Good Tunes to Start The Working Day

“Bonne bonne humeur ce matin” (Good, good mood this morning) by Tristan: Dance yourself into a good mood with this one!

“Dead flowers” by The Rolling Stones. The Perfect song to get dressed to!

“You Send Me” by Aretha Franklin: Can’t forget Aretha, anymore than I can Janis Joplin or Amy Winehouse.

“S.O.B” Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats: Play this at the office in the middle of the afternoon and you’ll set the place on fire!
