Professor Ryan and Professor Niki Ralph launched the Institute of Dermatologists in 2019 with the aim of establishing a Centre of Excellence for medical and cosmetic dermatologic care. In September, they launched their podcast, Dermatology S.O.S., to address the breadth of questions they receive in clinic and via social media.

“Irish people are more inclined to suffer with a skin condition for a long time before seeking professional help,” says Prof Ryan. “They may not be happy with their ageing face but they worry that they will look vain or superficial if they address it. We are here to set the record straight really, to share our expertise, highlight dangerous practices within the beauty industry and hopefully give people the confidence to explore their options, whether the issue is medical or cosmetic.”
