A glittering evening for an exclusive fine jewellery launch …
As part of its “Meet the Maker” series, DesignYard and Gormley’s art gallery hosted jewellery enthusiasts and collectors to hear from goldsmith Sam Lafford, who shared the inspiration behind his new collection.
Titled “An Grá”, Sam describes it as a love letter to Ireland and its people, which features his signature hand-carved hearts incorporated set with heart-shaped diamonds in both brilliant diamonds or rubies.
Guests included artists Orla di Brí and Stephanie Hess, as well as THE GLOSS columnist Susan Zelouf and stylist Edel Kinane – all fans of Studio Lafford’s brooches, rings and earrings.
The new range comprises handmade bracelets and earrings crafted from 18kt yellow gold or platinum, with a choice of pendant chains in oxidised silver or yellow gold. The showcase was also a chance to see pieces from Sam’s “Jolly Roger”, “Leading Lights” and “Shamwari” collections featuring garnets, Mozambican rubies and diamonds in brilliant green, champagne and brown colours, as well as custom cut peridots and amethysts from Germany’s Atelier Munsteiner.
The elegant evening confirmed Sam’s growing reputation as one of Ireland’s most talented designers and makers, creating exceptional pieces for discerning collectors who appreciate craftsmanship and beauty. The showcase extended into the elegant environs of Gormley’s Art Gallery, which generously opened its doors to the guests letting them admire vibrant canvases by Robert Indiana, Keith Haring, Gordon Harris, and other contemporary luminaries – creating a dynamic dialogue between fine jewellery and modern art.
