A posse of glamourous guests gathered at the light house cinema For a special preview of the “live action” remake of the little mermaid
Mums-to-be Bláinaid Treacy and Louise Cooney were among the guests who stepped out to see the “live action” remake of the 1989 film The Little Mermaid, a retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale. Doireann Garrihy, Bonnie Ryan and James Patrice were also there reliving the Disney magic at the Light House Cinema, Dublin 7.
Directed by Rob Marshall, early reviews suggest that Halle Bailey in the titular role is an unmitigated triumph. Critics however have been divided about the film as a whole – it has disappointed purists who say it hasn’t lived up to the original Disney animation, while others argue it is “popping candy for the soul”. That’s enough to pique our interest! The Little Mermaid opens at cinemas nationwide from May 25.
