The Dior AW23 has created a buzz on Instagram and pays homage to Marc Bohan, the former artistic director who travelled to India in 1962
Spotlighting the collaboration and friendship she has built over many years with India, and especially the non-profit Chanakya School of Craft in Mumbai, Maria Grazia Chiuri invited many of her celebrity friends to attend the Dior AW23 in Mumbai, India. Among the guests was Irish actress Jessie Buckley wearing Dior SS23.
Held al fresco at the Gateway of India, this impressive backdrop was the perfect setting for the new collection, which reinvigorated favourite designs. Models strutted between two floral carpets. Of note was a colour block sequence dedicated to silks – in shades of green, yellow, pink and purple – a homage to Marc Bohan, while sophisticated evening coats, sari-inspired straight skirts as well as pants, boleros, jackets and tops, all showed the versatile, sartorial chic of India. There was a special focus on embroidery as well as geometric shapes. The toile de Jouy print was revisited – in a vibrant green.
Bollywood stars, international models and actresses on the frow included Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Laetitia Casta, Beatrice Borromeo, Jeanne Damas, Sabine Getty and Elizabeth Von Guttman.
