To coincide with his record-breaking Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour (played to a full crowd at Dublin’s 3Arena recently), and the release of his Honky Château 50th Anniversary Edition album (on Universal Music Group), an exclusive pop-up store has just opened at Kildare Village – a must-visit for his numerous fans.
The Gloss team attended a preview of this pop-up in The Apartment, where some of Elton’s world-famous memorabilia was on display. Welcoming guests was Val Forde, Communications & PR Director at Kildare Village, and attendees included DJ Tara Kumar, broadcaster Glenda Gilson, content creator Shauna Doyle, radio presenter Sarina Bellissimo and music artist Aimeì.
Guests also enjoyed perusing the Elton John Eyewear collection, which was designed by Elton himself. In bold yet wearable colours, exaggerated and exuberant silhouettes, tinted lenses, baroque prints, signature tortoiseshell patterns, and glossy “record vinyl” black, there is a frame for every fan. Each pair of frames bears the instantly recognisable trademark inspired by Elton John’s enduring and timeless style, and a name that chimes with it too, such as Captain Fantastic, Honky Cat, Jive, Walk of Fame and more.
Other merchandise on sale includes LPs, boxsets and albums spanning Elton’s career, and one-off, limited-edition fashion pieces. Ten per cent of sales from all products sold at the pop-up store will go to the Elton John’s AIDS Foundation, which was established in 1992 with the mission of ending the AIDS epidemic.
