Shelly Corkery, Fashion Buyer Director at Brown Thomas, welcomed a very glossy posse of guests for a preview of the SS23 international designer collections on Tuesday, January 31.
Held in a luminous space at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2, the feeling of lightness and levity was amplified with huge flower sculptures commissioned from London-based set designer Penny Mills. These stunning “florals for spring” were also echoed in some of the designs, from the 3D roses at Roksanda to ornate blooms at Dries Van Noten.
Guests on the frow included fashion insiders Aoife Dunican (aka The Stylebob), stylists Corina Gaffey and Catherine Condell, as well as influencers such as Rosalind Lipsett, Bonnie Ryan and Lorna Weightman. All enjoyed a healthy breakfast of juices, kombucha and treats before taking their seats overlooking the River Liffey.
Other guests – Niamh Cullen, Clementine MacNeice and Courtney Smith (with her gorgeous baby) – joined fashion editors including Aislinn Coffey, Deirdre McQuillan, Rose Mary Roche and Bairbre Power, who were united in their delight at the functional edit of pieces, perfect for day-to-night dressing. New brands to launch this season at Brown Thomas include The Row, Peter Do, Alex Perry, Carolina Herrera and Coperni.
All 100 of the vibrant exits proved that SS23 is anything but ordinary. Arguably, 49-year-old model Sheila O’Callaghan stole the show in a striking orange caped Alex Perry dress – just the sort of vitamin C boost needed on a chilly spring day!
