The Lady Helen restaurant at Mount Juliet Estate was the setting for an elegant tenth anniversary celebration
To mark the first decade of Michelin dining at The Lady Helen, friends of the acclaimed restaurant were invited to enjoy a special celebratory “Then & Now” tasting menu. This featured some of the restaurant’s signature dishes which have featured on menus over past ten years.
TV Chef Edward Hayden, wedding planner Tara Fay, food writer Lucinda O’Sullivan, and Rod and Julie Calder-Potts from Highbank Orchard Distillery were among the guests as were former chefs of the restaurant, Ken Harker and Cormac Rowe.
Central to the success of The Lady Helen is current chef John Kelly who has evolved and honed the cooking to offer guests an elegant and contemporary Irish dining experience. Chef Kelly explains: “My culinary education has been quite privileged, working under very talented chefs, including Guillaume LeBrun and Keiran Glennon at Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, who I now consider friends. Also, Cormac Rowe and Ken Harker who started the journey for what we enjoy today.”
The Lady Helen is a favourite location for special occasions and a magnet for gourmets. Chef Kelly’s menus respect the integrity of locally sourced ingredients while also mindful of classic French culinary methods. Also integral to the restaurant’s success is restaurant manager, Aga Kubinska, who ensures the service pays homage to the tradition of entertaining for which former chatelaine of Mount Juliet, Lady Helen McCalmont, was renowned. A serene ambiance, crisp linens, fresh posies on the table and immaculately dressed staff all add to the impeccable experience.
