Maritess McCarthy was named as the winner of the hotly-contested Best Dressed competition at Galway Races …

Noted for her exquisite style on Ladies’ Day at Galway Races, Maritess McCarthy walked away with a prize of €10,000 for winning the Best Dressed Lady competition. This was judged by stylist Mandy Maher who was joined by Kieran O’Malley, digital marketing manager for Connacht Hospitality Group, and influencer Rachel Gorry.

After the event the cardio-thoracic theatre nurse from Douglas in Cork, described her winning ensemble: “My outfit was made by a Filipino designer named Raffaella, which I bought while visiting my home country Philippines last Christmas. My headpiece is by Elizabeth Christina Design also known as Tina Coyne from Cork.” Maritess accessorised her outfit with a pre-loved Jimmy Choo crystal embellished clutch bag and matching red shoes also by Jimmy Choo and gold jewellery. “I wanted a unique and elegant outfit that also showed my heritage. I’ve always loved bright colours hence why I picked red and gold.”
