Beauty editor has tried and tested these products this month to tell you what really deserves a spot on your beauty shelf …

LIP MASKING
Like mascara, lip balm is one of those things we tend to hang on to for far too long. Chuck out your old ones and try a summer upgrade: we love the look and taste of The Body Shop’s vegan Avocado Lip Mask www.thebodyshop.com and Mango Lip Scrub, €10 each, or Ruth’s Palm Free organic lemon and mint, €7; www.reuzi.ie.

NIGHT CLASS
We are overdoing our skincare. Skin expert Rebecca Bennett tells me: “Dermatologists are seeing patients with dry, sensitive, reactive skin, or skin that’s dry and flaky, and find patients are using tons of different actives. You just don’t need twelve products every day,” she says. For a simple reset, she recommends Aveeno Calm+Restore Re-Hydrating Night Cream to soothe skin and support the skin barrier. A fuss-free €15 hero. www.aveeno.ie.

NEW ARRIVALS
Star make-up artist Amanda Grossman has launched Elleven, a unisex perfume oil that’s big on geranium and patchouli, at a request from her clients, who include Cat Deeley (now her business partner), Isabel Marant and Lena Dunham. The alcohol-free rollerball offers an instant pick-me-up, part of the trend for uplifting scents with wellbeing in mind. It’s pricey at €90 for 20ml, but long-lasting and memorable. At Planet Beauty by Brown Thomas; www.brownthomas.com.
FACE LIFT
Book an Emma Hardie Lift & Sculpt facial at Harvey Nichols Dundrum with the excellent Sinead O’Connor; €65 for a 60-minute facial, redeemable against two EH products bought on the day (a good chance to stock up on the classic Moringa Cleansing Balm). Call Harvey Nichols on 01 291 0424 to book.
