When it comes to new season styling, knowing which shoes go best with jeans is always a sticking point. As well as having myriad denim options to choose from – a lot of which play with proportion – there’s the question of which flat shoes can actually pair well with the season’s trending barrel and wide-leg styles.

Enter: Gigi Hadid with an alternative take on late-spring shoes. The A-list model stepped out in New York teaming wide-leg jeans with a pair of colour-pop Miu Miu red leather loafers. The flash of colour got us thinking: why are we still in the rut of brown and black?
