In June, THE GLOSS | Goodbody Investment Club invited submissions for three complimentary bespoke financial plans devised by the Goodbody team. There was an overwhelming response, with readers sharing personal stories spanning a broad range of financial challenges.
After what proved to be a difficult selection process, Goodbody chose three scenarios which feature unexpected events many of us will face during our lifetime, which can provoke financial challenges. They included:
– The financial burden of living with serious long-term illness
– Navigating a financial future after a divorce and as a business owner
– The financial strain associated with fertility treatment and solo parenthood
Whatever situation you find yourself in, it’s important to make the right choices to achieve the best long-term outcomes for everyone. And so, to create each financial plan, the team at Goodbody started by taking time to understand each individual’s needs, ambitions and concerns. They subsequently built a picture of their assets and liabilities. Armed with these insights, they created a financial plan that sought to bring their financial future to life and made clear recommendations tailored to their individual needs.
These financial plans have been anonymised and are now available to read on THE GLOSS | Goodbody Investment Club hub at www.thegloss.ie/goodbodyinvestmentclub.
What’s in a Financial Plan?
A financial plan visualises your financial future so you can make the right decision today to meet your long-term wealth needs. Each plan should be crafted to reflect your individual needs and priorities so as to ensure you have the wealth you need to realise your dreams.
Some of the common areas that are covered in financial plans include:
INVESTMENTS: building and managing an investment portfolio to suit your ambitions and risk profile.
PENSIONS: how to maximise your pension so that you have enough to retire when you want to.
CASHFLOW AND RETIREMENT: identifying your income needs today and in retirement and building a plan to ensure your savings and investments last as long as you do.
INHERITANCE: if you’re expecting or leaving an inheritance, understanding the taxes that are likely to be due and some tax efficient strategies that can be deployed.
PROTECTION: ensuring you look at your life and illness insurance needs and that you understand how to protect your family from the unthinkable.
CHILDREN: understanding the ways to save for your children’s or grandchildren’s education and future.
