It’s almost December! We’re plotting out festive plans and we’ve found a seasonal special offer that’s too good to resist. The Westbury Hotel has launched a new package ‘The Long Christmas Dinner at the Abbey Experience’ which will run over the Christmas period. A shiny, gift-wrapped event featuring a night at the theatre, followed by a luxurious stay at the Westbury Hotel in the heart of the city centre is the perfect way to start your Christmas celebrations.
Returning to the Peacock stage at the Abbey Theatre, The Long Christmas Dinner is a heart-warming family drama which unfolds over a seamless 50 minutes. The play visits successive generations of the Bayard family at their Christmas dinner table spanning a period of 90 years.
It is a touching story of family, togetherness, separation, birth and death – themes which inevitably appear at Christmas time for most of us. The play offers time to appreciate our loved ones and to reflect on our own Christmas celebrations and what they means to us. Written by Thornton Wilder and directed by Sarah Jane Scaife and Raymond Keane, The Long Christmas Dinner was nominated for best production, best director, best ensemble, best lighting and best supporting actress at the 2022 Irish Times Theatre Awards. It is a real seasonal gem.
This special package from the Westbury Hotel contains two tickets for an evening showing of The Long Christmas Dinner at the Abbey Theatre, at either 6.30pm or 8.30pm. But the festive fun does not stop there!
The package also includes a pre- or post-theatre dinner in the delicious and beautifully decorated WILDE, followed by an overnight stay for two adults in a luxurious bedroom at the Westbury Hotel. To top it all off, after a super Christmassy evening, the Westbury is including a complimentary breakfast the following morning.

The package price is €540 and is available from December 13 – 23 and December 28 – 31 (not available Fridays and Saturdays.) There are two evening performances at the Abbey Theatre, 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
