The SS20 fashion catwalks (and streets) were awash with double denim. Think old-school American classic vibe channeling original Calvin Klein, Donna Karan and Ralph Lauren. On the runway we saw expertly tailored tonal shirts and jeans in super-soft denim cut for a slightly looser fit worn with skinny 1970s belts (a must this season, available in all good charity shops) and horse-bit bags.
After the shows we spotted the street style crew in more masculine and oversized shapes with slouchy shoulders and relaxed sleeves teamed with delicate mules and a top-handle bags. If it’s an effortless weekend outfit you’re after, wear yours with penny loafers, a fine-gauge polo-neck sweater, wool socks and a navy blazer (for SS20, blazers are long and lean, mostly closed with a single button). At night? Make your look more interesting and feminine by wearing a pair of fine-heeled sandals, a delicate camisole (or not) and classic gold jewellery.
Ireland’s cold winter weather means that no outfit is complete without a coat. The trench coat is still the topper to beat this season. Pack an Ultra Light down collarless compact jacket by Uniqlo in your bag for a weather emergency (they come rolled up in a teeny, tiny bag, a great tip from Trinny Woodall) and layer between your shirt and coat.
