Gloss-ip: See All The Guests At Solomon Fine Art’s Latest Opening

Solomon Fine Art launched a new exhibition of work by Sligo-based film maker and artist Cléa van der Grijn. See all the guests in attendance …

It was a packed opening night at Solomon Fine Art, Dublin 2,  for an exhibition of new work by Sligo-based film maker and artist Cléa van der Grijn. “The disembodied adventures of Cléa” is a series of colourful abstract paintings inspired by Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice in Wonderland. Cléa used imagery from the iconic book, along with its themes of displacement and transformation, to reference her own experiences with personality disorder, addiction and the path towards recovery.

Senior clinical psychologist Dr Keith Gaynor welcomed guests to the gallery and opened the exhibition. This was followed by a special performance by award-winning violinist Steve Wickham (of The Waterboys) who played an interpretive composition in response to Cléa’s work and invited guests to observe the paintings as he played.

Cléa was accompanied by her partner Martin Reilly and son Max van der Grijn. Artists in attendance included Orla de Brí, Rachel Joynt and Stephanie Hess. Also in attendance, were High Court Judge Niamh Hyland, Director of the Georgian Society Donogh Cahill and architects Suzanne MacDonald and Antonello Vagge.

The exhibition runs until March 4 at Solomon Fine Art, Balfe Street, Dublin 2; www.solomonfineart.ie
