Christmas Table Inspiration? Red and Green Updated …

Nothing says Christmas quite like the colour red paired beautifully with its favourite complementary forest green. Tara O’Connor of The Designed Table shares her festive styling advice …

A beautiful Christmas table, traditional but with a contemporary twist, is what we are aiming for this year. This Christmas we asked Tara O’Connor of The Designed Table to create two special tablescapes, to include delicious festive Butlers Chocolate treats in complementary colours. Tara created two – one gold, one red – layering elements in the most elegant way, so that the finished result is a feast for the eyes as well as, well, a feast! Discover the red tablescape below. And see the gold one here.

A good old-fashioned country Christmas

“Nothing says Christmas quite like the colour red paired beautifully with its favourite complementary forest green. Add to that a traditional check pattern and a few chunky frills and you have the ultimate nostalgic base. Here, I’ve used the red plaid tablecloth with matching napkins, red cotton frill placemat and dark green velvet bow napkin rings from my new collection.

“Now it’s time to elevate the look with just a hint of glitz by way of elegant glassware, green votives, shiny golden accessories like candlesticks, cutlery and a statement dish in a seasonal leaf motif and finished with red tapered candles for just the right amount of warmth.

Finally, I’ve chosen a traditional bouquet of seasonal flowers and greenery at a low height (so it doesn’t interfere with table conversation) and placed it at the centre of the table. And I love using place names and menus at this time of year – they just add a little formality to the whole setting and can be simply prepared and tucked cosily under the napkin.”

Just add Butlers ….

The Pudding Stick (€6.95) needs no introduction. Containing eight limited edition Christmas Pudding chocolate truffles, this makes for the perfect personal treat with a hot beverage; name a better way to start these cold December mornings.

Luscious and luxurious and loved by all, the 500g presentation box (€25.00) tied with a festive red ribbon is guaranteed to please the most demanding of chocolate connoisseurs.

A cracker in very sense of the word, The Yuletide Cracker (€10.99) is filled with individually wrapped truffles and caramels. It’s a lovely touch to replace traditional crackers with these, or just pop a few on the table at coffee time …

The Butlers Red Christmas Bauble (€9.95) is a perfect finishing touch – with delicious milk chocolate and 70% dark chocolate truffles inside a gorgeous Christmas keepsake.
