Gillian Keating, Partner, Ronan Daly Jermyn law firm
In relation to your day-to-day responsibilities, what challenges did you face when Covid-19 struck? What struggles, if any, are there now?
Firstly to ensure we were all fully tech-enabled to work efficiently from home as quickly as possible. Our next challenge was to ensure that we did not miss a beat in terms of our client engagement. We wanted to ensure that our clients understood that the service we provide would not be compromised in any way just because we were not in a physical building, that the RDJ team was immediately accessible whether over the phone or online. We met these challenges with the support of our in-house IT heroes and our IT security providers. Going forward, we face the challenge of ensuring that the strong camaraderie we have across the firm is not diluted in the virtual world.
One hard lesson you learned during this period?
Relationships matter more than ever in the remote working environment. If you have not taken the time to get to know the people behind your client’s business pre-Covid it is much more difficult to conduct business in a purely online arena.
What helps you maintain perspective?
A HIIT session on the LeanWithLesley app blows away all the cobwebs!
