spend the night at Carrie’s iconic NYC brownstone – but there’s a catch …
Who didn’t want to live in Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment? By the time I’d binged all six seasons of Sex and the City in the late noughties, I had a gold (okay, Elizabeth Duke) name-necklace draped on my dressing table, a battered white chair haphazardly piled with books in place of a bedside table and I was firmly considering a rotary telephone. That’s before we get to the prerequisite writing space for the family laptop (yes, it was the late 2000s) to enable me to ‘couldn’t-help-but-wonder’ whenever I pleased.
And, in a joyous turn of events, to mark 23 years since we were first introduced to Carrie et al, Sarah Jessica Parker will be hosting Carrie’s Manhattan apartment on Airbnb for two nights, November 12 and November 13 – for the humble fee of $23 per night. (Really.) Meaning, you can rifle through Carrie’s designer closet (don’t mock the clothes, watch the Speedstick), engage your best friend in a prolonged chat over the cordless phone or quaff cocktails (yes, the provision of certain cocktail beginning with C is included in the stay).
Whether the stay includes the cheery greeting of Aidan’s “Hello, poptart!” or a suitable window lean to stare wistfully after Big’s limo, we’re not sure. But the apartment itself is a little – well – different to the one we recall from the show (which, fun fact, is located at 66 Perry Street in the West Village, not at the fictional 245 East 73rd Street address Carrie used in the show).
The apartment on Airbnb is a replica created by Warner Bros and Airbnb to promote the launch of And Just Like That on HBO Max this December, and is actually located in the Manhattan neighbourhood of Chelsea. While the apartment is certainly lovely, it’s not exactly a straight up ode to Carrie’s low-key apartment we love and remember from the original series. Perhaps they were reaching more for Carrie’s glossy renovation look from 2008’s Sex and the City: The Movie?

Those wishing to bag a stay at the iconic apartment – which will include a virtual greeting from Sarah Jessica Parker herself – can apply via Airbnb.com/sexandthecity from November 8. (We predict a virtual stampede.) Let’s hope, in the words of the great Stanford Blatch, there’ll be no fashion roadkill.
