The light-wash denim skirt

If you’ve yet to invest in a midi-length denim skirt, now is the time as it’s the perfect way to keep the summer feeling going (even if the weather is gloomy!). Ultra-light washes are coming to the fore right now – and we can see why: they pair perfectly with a leather jacket, and also act as a suitable base for a pop of summer colour, care of a bright vest top or T-shirt. Dress up your skirt for evening with a frilled blouse and add a stacked heel to evoke a 1970s feel.

Extra light wash Greta denim midi-skirt, €105;

the cream pinstriped blazer

Cream blazers are a true wardrobe investment (and they look more expensive than white, in our opinion). New iterations with a pinstripe, and an oversized shape, lean into borrowed-from-the-boys tailoring. Pair with white jeans and black flat sandals for a gorgeous everyday look.

Cream pinstriped blazer, Sandro, €206;

the curved bag

Crescent-shaped bags are a hero accessory thanks to the likes of Bottega Veneta’s Mini Jodie bag – a woven leather bag in a tidy, croissant-like shape with a signature knot. These cute carry-alls add a sense of luxe to an otherwise casual jeans-and-a-shirt outfit, but equally would look just as good with the season’s strapless bandeau-style black dresses. Should your budget not stretch to Bottega, the mini Grace bag, below, by Anine Bing screams quiet luxury.

the silk trousers

Whether you’re getting dressed at home or abroad this summer, a pair of silk trousers are the ultimate go-to when you want to look put together while still maintaining optimum comfort levels. While we love the Tôteme pair pictured above, we think we might reach for this simple silk pair from Arket more. The champagne shade looks ultra-luxe, perfect for evenings by the beach bar on holiday and for weekend shopping days at home.

Light beige silk trousers, €99;

the mary jane flats

Have you bought into the Mary Jane trend yet? If not, what are you waiting for? On days when the weather isn’t playing ball for sandals this month, these flats will be your go-to. Look to brands like Ayede, Vagabond and & Other Stories for the chicest styles and pair with everything from your favourite midi dress to a tailored two-piece set and laidback denim that hits at the ankle. An investment piece that will pay dividends, you’ll reach for these flats right through to autumn.

Black leather Uma Mary Jane flats, Ayede, €245;
