The Howth Castle kitchen has been a centre of culinary excellence for over 260 years; providing an incomparable space for aspiring chefs of all ages and levels to learn, create and savour the art of cooking in a truly unique and historic setting.
Originally built in the mid-18th century and later renovated by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the kitchen’s continued evolution ensures it remains at the forefront of Ireland’s culinary landscape. The next step in this evolution? Gaggenau. The collaboration between Gaggenau and Howth Cookery School strikes the perfect balance of modern excellence with legacy. The luxury German appliance brand combines centuries-old traditions with state-of-the-art technology; meaning this new kitchen will undoubtedly transform the culinary experience for all participants.

What? The new kitchen features cutting-edge technology, including precision-engingeered ovens and induction hobs that allow an elevated culinary experience.
Where? The school is located within the 30-foot-high cupola, the rounded dome of the castle, dating back to 1750.

Who? The school’s resident chefs Sarah Hughes and fine-dining expert John Carty are thrilled with the kitchen transformation. Hughes commented, “We’ve always strived to inspire our students, but with the addition of Gaggenau’s advanced technology we’re taking our classes to a whole new level. It’s a privilege to showcase how modern appliances can work seamlessly in a historic kitchen.”

Book: There is no time like the present to investigate taking cooking classes or directing someone you know who will love them. There’s a wide variety of hands-on cooking classes from €95 suitable for all skill levels. Bespoke corporate experiences – including a Catch & Cook where you can fish for your lunch out the back of Ireland’s Eye in Dublin Bay – and Teen & Tween Classes to develop a love for cooking at any age, are also available.
