WHERE: As a last hurrah before allta restaurant closes in its fabulous pop-up rooftop location of Trinity Street Car Park, Dublin 2, chef Niall Davidson co-hosted an exclusive evening of live jazz, cocktails, DJ at which the new, pioneering BMW i7 was launched. WHAT: Those familiar with the 7 series will instantly recognise its aesthetic and size has increased; the BMW i7 looks more like a Rolls Royce. It’s the first time a BMW model offers the choice of plug-in hybrid system or pure electric drive. It also incorporates a reduction in its CO2 footprint thanks to a sustainability strategy in the supply chain, and the use of green energy in production.

All of the guests were impressed with some of the key design details, especially the Swarovski crystal headlights and an illuminated LED grille. The option of ordering automatically opening and closing doors.

Inside comfort is prioritised, from extra legroom to its in-car entertainment system. There’s a 31.3 inch theatre screen – a world first! – in the backseat providing a private cinema with an impressive Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. As for finishes, seats are covered in Veganza – a leather-like material available in four colours.

AND: Not only were guests impressed by the car, the delicious nibbles prepared by Niall and his team went down a treat. On the menu were canapés such as oysters with fermented hot sauce and toasted nori, venison with buckwheat, amaranth and beetroot, as well as octopus, violet potato and gooseberry sea lettuce. Guests got to take home a taste of allta too with some matcha fudge and shiitake miso butter.

Some incredible prizes were also awarded. These included a table for two at allta’s new premises which launches in the spring, along with a chauffeur driven BMW i7 experience. Two guests also won VIP Platinum Services return passes plus parking for three days at Dublin airport. To ensure that the winners travelled in style, they were also given a suite of chic BMW luggage.
