A Trio Of New Restaurant Experiences To Try In Dublin

Steak and unlimited French fries, a new small plate menu and an unforgettable oyster experience …

Entrecôte, Clarendon Street, Dublin 2

The Traitors star Oyin Adeyemi, Kathryn Thomas, Glenda Gilson, Lorraine Keane, Corina Gaffey, Chloe McGinley and others were among the first to dine out on the world-famous single-dish steak-frites and signature “secret sauce” combo at this iconic new spot. The much-loved French institution – with restaurants in Paris, Toulouse, London, New York, Tokyo and beyond – chose Powerscourt Townhouse Dublin for its Irish debut; operating on a first-come first-served basis with walk-ins only, serving a good value set menu for €29.95. This includes a green salad starter with pickled onions, Irish sourdough bread with local butter and Achill Island seaweed salt, followed by two servings of tender Tipperary beef steak and bottomless hand-cut authentic French fries. Leave room for some classic French desserts: mousse au chocolat de grand-mère, profiteroles à la vanille, tarte tatin aux pommes and cold brew Irish coffee with nutmeg cultured cream. You had us at bonjour! @entrecotedublin

Roly’s Bistro, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4

Tuesdays are the new Thursdays, apparently, especially this week at Roly’s Bistro when Florida-based owners John and Angie O’Sullivan arrived home to greet guests at the launch of their new small plates and sundowner cocktail menu. Ideal for post work catch-ups, these sharing plates created by chef Paul Cartwright include some of Roly’s classic dishes such as their Dublin Bay prawn scampi, duck wontons and Castletownbere crab croquettes, as well as some new offerings such as seared sashimi tuna and grilled tandoori-style lamb chops. Pop in to see for yourself on the terrace or at Angie’s Bar. Photography; Sasko Lazarov. @rolysbistro

The Shelbourne, Dublin 2

There’s still time to enjoy oyster month at The Shelbourne, served daily in the swish No 27 Bar, where devotees can enjoy a range of options from Carlingford oysters (best accompanied by a Boatyard Martini) or some zesty ponzu oysters with chilli and spring onion. For something more daring, try Oysters Bloody Mary, or if you prefer yours cooked, there’s the classic oysters Rockerfella. Not forgetting, THE GLOSS favourite Shelbourne Lawyer oysters with Liscannor crab with a Green Spot whiskey glaze.
