A New Complexion In 90 Days

Have you tried this Australian skincare line? Ultraceuticals skincare and treatments are all about visible results …

Have you discovered Ultraceuticals yet? It’s a leading cosmeceutical line, created in 1998 by Dr Heber, who spent over twenty years as a cosmetic physician, working with clients whose skin was constantly exposed to the harsh Australian sun. Ultraceuticals is a leader in the global cosmeceutical indutry and we’re delighted to see it available in Ireland.

Stocked in clinics and salons nationwide (and online at www.ultraceuticals.com/ie), the Ultraceuticals range of skincare targets specific concerns such as acne, redness and pigmentation. Other issues might be uneven skin tone, congestion, breakouts or generally problematic skin. But perhaps you just want your skin to be at its most firm, clear, glowing best – Ultraceuticals’ mission is to deliver real visible results in 90 days.

What makes Ultraceuticals different?

Michelle Macken, National Educator for Ultraceuticals, believes that, because your skin is unique, your skin treatment should be too. “With innovative and customised treatments, followed up by your home care plan, you can look forward to radiant, healthy glowing skin in 90 days, by introducing active ingredients into the skin. With innovation in technology and research, we know the effectiveness of skincare products has advanced significantly. We research more and understand just what makes a product truly effective.”

There are clinics all around Ireland that offer professional Ultraceuticals treatments. And these are carefully designed to bring out the very best in your skin. Before your treatment you’ll complete a thorough Skin Health Consultation. Using this, your therapist will create a bespoke plan to tackle your main skin concerns, including a home care plan.

The treatments themselves range from 30-minute Signature Facials to Advanced treatments (from 45 minutes) and Booster Plus+, which treats your decolletage, hands and back as well as your face.

We tried out the Signature Plus+ Facial, which features luxurious massage techniques and serum infusions; this treatment is customised to refine and hydrate the skin while enjoying time out for relaxation. This treatment is designed to leave you with a radiant, hydrated and glowing complexion, and is suitable for normal, dry and oily skin types.

As Michelle tells me, “In treatments, we utilise the Ultrasonophoresis device – Ultrasonophoresis utilises low-frequency ultrasound that has been shown to increase delivery of various ingredients up to 1,000 times than that achieved with other application methods. We infuse corrective serums into the skin and this treatment works in tandem with the massage techniques.” It’s also very relaxing, and we especially like the fact that it extends beyond the face: your neck, shoulders, arms and decolletage are also treated.

Another good option for mature skin is the Rejuvenate and Revitalise Treatment, carefully designed to stimulate your skin’s natural collagen production and improve your skin texture.

“To achieve the best results, book in for a series of three treatments with a minimum of two weeks between each,” advises Michelle.

What to take home

Standouts in the skincare range include the Ultra B² Hydration Mask (€95 pack of five), an innovative hydrogel mask designed to hydrate and visibly plump skin in 15 minutes; with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, it’s a super-fast hydrator that’s brilliant for dry skin types, but suits all. Michelle Macken describes it as “a professional grade hydrogel mask that helps to dramatically improve the appearance of dehydrated, dull and coarse skin texture.” She recommends putting it into the fridge for a short time before applying, for extra refreshing benefits; it’s also a great post-travel skin rescue. We also rate the UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF30 Hydrating (€50.50), a light daily skin protector (there’s also a tinted version).

Michelle’s own favourites include the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum (€80) – it has retinol and peptides to help plump up fine lines, and hydrating ingredients; it helps to refine the skin’s texture. “I also love the Ultra Brightening Moisturiser Cream, which really gives you a radiant complexion.” This is an effective skin-smoother and hydrator with squalane, shea butter and fruit and plant oils making it a nourishing daily staple (€61).
