Rosanna Irwin of Samsu Cabins and film producer Killian Connolly tie the knot in garden festival style …
Killian’s uncle acted as celebrant and Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing” played as the couple was pronounced man and wife.
“Our wedding venue was Ballintubbert House, Co Laois. The ceremony was in a sunken circular garden, one of the main draws of the venue. We had a drinks reception in the apple orchard, then moved down to the marquee for dinner. Our menu was vegetarian, and day two food was by Julia’s Lobster Truck.”
Oysters were served at the drinks reception in the orchard.
“My dress was from The Fall in Hackney, London. I wanted something I could dye afterwards to give it another day out, so this naturally narrowed down my choices in terms of styles. I’ve always loved a highneck silhouette and once I tried on this dress I could tell by my mum’s face that it was the one. I had my veil made by Martina Garner, who handsewed individual pieces of lace onto it. Killian bought a vintage tuxedo on eBay and had it tailored. I think we both wanted something elegant and timeless, so that when our future grandchildren look at our photos, they will still like our outfits!”
Rosanna wore a bracelet from each of her grandmothers.
“My flowers were by Sarah from the Secret Gardener. Zoe Ardiff was our photographer, and my friend Aine from the Wedding Content Co captured video which she shared with us the next day. We handpainted our wedding sign, place names were written on oyster shells, and my dad made the candle holders on the tables.”
Rosanna found her Neous shoes on Vinted. She rented a Simone Rocha egg bag.
“My advice to couples is to write your own vows, and make a speech. But more than anything, enjoy every second, and make sure it’s the day that you want, not anyone else.”
