What does this mean for our skin? This innovative triple pro-collagen action stimulates the skin’s own resources and addresses specific skincare concerns such as slackening and lack of radiance, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots and tiredness in the skin. It can help to accentuate the plumped look of cheekbones, give a “lift” effect to contours, boost elasticity and redefine facial volumes, plumping and toning the skin.
THE EXPERIENCE
Extra-Firming is a pleasure to use, with a subtle, beautiful rose scent and a range of different textures to suit every preference and skin type.
Extra-Firming Day has a creamy texture that’s quickly absorbed, providing a beautiful base for make-up; there’s also a version with SPF15 to provide extra protection against the sun’s rays. A velvety, oil-in-water structure means that the creams feel incredibly comfortable on the skin, and melt in to give it “bounce”. Extra-Firming Night, packed with avocado peptides, is a rich, supremely comfortable formula to nourish and repair the skin while you sleep. The Treatment Essence, a Korean-inspired first skincare step, is invigorating and hydrating, to really “wake up” the skin, while the Emulsion is light and fresh for all skin types.
A DEEP DIVE
The new Extra-Firming range is packed with Clarins’ botanical know-how, and features six organic extracts and four extracts from organic plants, as well as key ingredients such as niacinamide (B3), a youth-promoting molecule. The symbiosis between three powerful key ingredients is what helps to increase collagen reserves: Collagen Polypeptide improves the quantity of collagen fibres. Usually in skincare, collagen remains on the skin’s surface, since it’s too large a molecule to penetrate. Here, the collagen polypeptide – a powerful biomimetic identical to a fragment of skin collagen – is a much smaller molecule, which effectively increases the skin’s own production of collagen. Organic Pecan Tree Extract – the latest plant innovation from Clarins – preserves the quality of collagen fibres. Organic Mitracarpus Extract helps reinforce the structure of fibres. It’s the star, patented ingredient in the Extra-Firming range.
A VISIBLE DIFFERENCE
Clarins’ Laboratories tested the effectiveness of the Extra-Firming range with clinical and consumer tests. Clinical evaluations on 30 women, after two months, saw multiple benefits on skin firmness, with plumper-looking cheekbones (42 per cent), more defined facial contours (25 per cent) and softened nasolabial folds (15 per cent). Testers using both Day and Night creams found their skin firmer, plumped and revitalised in just seven days.
