Master and apprentice in action …
Following a successful collaboration earlier this year with executive head chef Guillaume Lebrun creating a rare menu with former apprentice, chef John Kelly at the Lady Helen restaurant at Mount Juliet Estate in Co Kilkenny, the master chef turned the tables and opened his kitchen doors for one night only on November 11 – the first time in Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud’s 44 year history.
Both chefs have been recognised by the Michelin Guide. Chef Guillaume and Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud were the first in Ireland to be awarded two Michelin Stars, while chef John is celebrating the eleventh year of the Michelin Star at the Lady Helen.
Guests were treated to an evening of fine dining celebrating Ireland’s finest seasonal ingredients and culinary techniques. They enjoyed a bespoke six-course tasting menu that reflected the harmony between Kelly’s modern Irish style and Lebrun’s French precision. Each course was paired with a specially selected wine from the award-winning wine cellar.
