5 Tasty Sandwiches To Try Around Ireland

Who doesn’t enjoy a main character sandwich?

Seafood Café, Dublin 2

Hot on the heels of the highly successful Sunday lunch menu, The Seafood Café in Temple Bar has launched a midweek lunch menu, and it’s a good one. Sandwich options include a Po’boy baguette with crispy queenie scallops, house old bay, chipotle aioli, lettuce, tomatoes and fries or the KBLT with Lambay island crab meat, Gubeen crispy bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and fries. Hungry for more? There’s also a lobster roll with salad and fries, and a fillet o’fish with optional caviar bump. Because, caviar … @dublinklaw

Deli 147 at Chubby’s Kitchen, Clontarf

In a move that has reaffirmed our faith in the world, Chubby’s Kitchen announced the return of the legendary 147 Deli in the Clontarf location. With five sandwiches available each lunchtime, expect to see the return of the Reuben along with a chargrilled chicken shwarma, the Cubano, ham, cheese and crisps toastie, and a cauliflower and three cheese melt. Currently take-away only, there are plenty of places to perch to enjoy your sandwich.

Little Acorn Café, Baltinglass, Co Wicklow

Bacon and cheese toastie? Served with homemade crisps. Roast beef with rocket, garlic mayo and crispy onions? Served with homemade crisps. The pulled pork with baby gem, red cabbage slaw, pickled cucumber and spicy mayo? You got it. It’s served with homemade crisps. As if there weren’t enough reasons to visit. @littleacorncafe

Plámas, Co Galway

Plámás is an independent speciality coffee shop in the bohemian Westend neighbourhood of the city. They work with Hapi Bakery, Sunstreet Foods and Geometry Coffee in Tuam to offer a variety of house coffee, baked treats and delicious sandwiches. Expect exciting combos such as the Big Andarl Farm BLT with smoked Crowe’s bacon, rocket, guac, heirloom tomatoes and chipotle mayo or the Hot Girl Halloumi with togarashi halloumi, white miso, sesame slaw, rocket and gochujang glaze. Vegan and vegetarian options are also available, and don’t get me started on the fritz spritz rhubarb cola.

Sonny’s Deli, Co Cork

There is a lot to love about the sandwiches at Sonny’s Deli in Cork. For a start, there is the Banh Mi – the delicious Vietnamese classic with char siu roast pork, pâté, cucumber, fresh coriander, pickles, spring onion, chilli and mayonnaise in a puffy white yeast baguette. Then there is the Reuben with house-cured salt beef with Swiss Emmental, sauerkraut, Russian dressing, gherkins and fresh dill on white or wholemeal. The menu changes regularly, so check online before visiting to avoid severe disappointment.
