The sun may be gone in for now but we’re still glowing. Keep scrolling for the best bronzers of the summer …
Look like you just got back from holiday (minus the sun damage and airport stress): these bronzers are worth their weight in gold …
1 Super Size Me
Chanel Les Beiges Oversize Healthy Glow Sun-Kissed Powder, €75 (15g), is a bit of a showstopper, in its giant compact. The huge kabuki brush, €50, really amps up the luxury, and I love the texture of the powder, which is available in in three shades, light, medium and deep. I’d prefer the case to be refillable, though.
TIP: As an affordable alternative, Síomha Connolly recommends Rimmel’s Natural Bronzer, €7.99 (14g) at Boots Ireland. “I used it first when I was a teenager and have gone back to it recently. It’s a great natural colour (as it says on the tin) and blends on so easily with a brush and doesn’t take a lot of product to give you a nice bronzed colour – a great pharmacy option.”
2 Golden Glamour
Also very generously sized is Charlotte Tilbury’s recently launched Beautiful Skin Sun-Kissed Glow Bronzer, €52 (21g), in four shades from fair to deep. This is great for enhancing any existing colour in your skin and has a creamier texture; Tilbury recommends dusting shoulders and chest with it too. A shame this isn’t refillable, either; seems a waste to chuck a case this size; the existing Airbrush bronzer is refillable though (in stock at Brown Thomas online).
3 Two-Tone
For summer Clarins have this limited-edition Ever Bronze Compact Powder (light, medium or deep) featuring different colour combinations. Mix together with your brush, or contour using the darker shade. With 90 per cent natural-origin ingredients. Including summery coconut oil plus safflower, which is a star ingredient in the Clarins After Sun range, designed to prolong your tan: it helps to stimulate melanin synthesis, and so intensifies any residual tan you have. A neat little compact, too. €35 (10g), refills €29.
4 Dynamic Duo
Reliable, Italian-made Vieve Modern Bronzer is available in four duo colour combinations, according to founder Jamie Genevieve’s make-up artistry and suitable for all ages and skin types. Love the generous mirror for on the go. Peta-approved, vegan and fragrance-free. €39, 18g, at Brown Thomas Dundrum.
TIP: Pick up a new Power Ink Eyeliner while you’re at the counter, and perfect your cat’s eye flick.
5 Liquid Bronze
Pai’s The Impossible Glow is one of my favourite summer launches. I wrote about these liquid highlighters in our July/August issue. In cool champagne through to rich luscious bronze, these glow drops are beautiful and brilliant: use a tiny amount straight onto skin, or else add a drop or two into your daily moisturiser to transform it into an entirely different, and superior, thing. Plus it feels beautiful on your skin and contains ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, making it a positive rather than a skin-dehydrating or clogging exercise (the effects of many other bronzers) – plus it’s certified organic and cruelty-free. Why can’t all beauty products be this good? €29, at www.paiskincare.ie.
