These body oils stand out from the crowd …
Every time I use body oil and cream from this UK bodycare brand Saltair, I think how good it is. I particularly love the Saltair Santal Bloom Body Oil. It has a soft, warm scent which isn’t overpowering, with sandalwood, rose and jasmine. It glides onto skin and sinks in easily, without leaving any stickiness – body oil has to feel luxurious, while hydrating the skin lightly. Saltair’s is full of plant and flower oils, from safflower and castor to meadowfoam and apricot kernel. At €28.75 for 118ml, they are decent value, as are the accompanying body butters (€26.45), which feel beautifully indulgent on the skin and leave a soft scent. The Santal range is very popular, so keep an eye out for restocks. Other scent ranges are equally good, including the new Driftwood, with fresh marine vibes of bergamot and sage; Golden Hour, a sunny coconut and pineapple blend, and Green Grapefruit. There’s deodorant in the range too, plus body washes and mists.
The other body oil I really rate at the moment is Phlur’s Vanilla Skin Body Oil. Some vanilla-scented products can be rather sickly on the skin, but this one is just delicious, with a comforting gourmand warmth that’s like inhaling a sponge cake. It’s a blend of pink apple, lily, jasmine, cashmere wood, vanilla and sandalwood. You almost want to lick the bottle. More expensive than Saltair’s, at €45 (120ml), this is a delicious elixir that doubles as a lasting scent on your skin. Makes a gorgeous gift or treat for yourself.
Owner and co-founder Chriselle Lim (pictured above) wa in Brown Thomas Dublin to launch the latest eau de parfum, Honey Moon (€99), a honey, tonka, orange blossom and vanilla-infused eau de parfum that’s bright and optimistic. Just what we need right now, then – a ray of sunshine. For me, though, the particular strength of this brand lies in the more accessible body oils and fun hair and body mists (from €32), in their brightly coloured bottles. Try the apple-green Mrs Smith through to holiday-in-a-bottle, Beach Skin, and spray with abandon – these are fun, lighthearted fragrances with quality.
