What’s On My Beauty Shelf? Skincare founder Jeanette Thottrup

Jeanette Thottrup is founder of Seed to Skin, an organic, sustainable skincare line made in labs in Tuscany, part of the Borgo Santo Pietro farm and estate. She shares her beauty ethos and essentials …

Key beauty staples/old favourites I’m never without …

“Without a doubt, my own Seed to Skin products. As a formulator, I create the skincare I genuinely want to use every morning and evening, so my routine is built entirely around them. I believe in consistency and using formulations that truly support the skin’s long-term health, resilience and vitality.

In the morning, I use The Clarity Cleanse to get ‘glass skin’ then The Dew Mist – this is my essential for instant plumping and hydration boost; The Eye Rescue Light Time Recovery, and in summer the Biom’Sphere as a serum and day cream as it’s very light and fluid.

In the evening, The Divine Cleanse, the Fermen’tonic for cell activation, The Alche’mist for vitamins, The Eye Rescue Night Time Recovery and The Night Force masque.”

Best beauty investments – what I spend a bit more on …

“I’d say skincare, without question. You can always enhance your look with make-up, but you can’t truly disguise unhealthy skin. Healthy, resilient skin is the foundation of beauty, so that’s where I believe it’s worth investing. I’d rather own fewer products of exceptional quality that genuinely improve the skin over time than a shelf full of products that promise quick fixes. For me, great skincare is an investment in long-term skin health, not just appearance.”

One foundation I swear by ….

“I don’t use a lot of foundation but when I do I use Chantecaille Future Skin [€92] as it doesn’t cover much.”

My most recent purchase …

Dior Glass lipstick Pink Milly.” [€48]

I’m coveting …

Guerlain‘s Terracotta bronzer no 3.” [€58.80]

My favourite places to shop for beauty …

Liberty London, Harvey Nichols and spas are always great places for shopping.”

My favourite Irish beauty product …

The Burren Perfumery, love the care they put into their products.”

My all-time favourite beauty item …

“The Divine Cleanse, The Dew Mist and The Black Magic mask by Seed to Skin – I really made them for me!”

Favourite treatment/therapist/facialist …

“Our Reverse facial, but apart from that my absolute favourite treatment will always be a good massage.”

My home fragrance …

“Borgo Air by Seed to Skin.”

The loveliest perfume bottle on my dressing table …

“Not long ago, I met lovely Kathleen Baird-Murray and I totally fell in love with her and her perfume – Catch Me If I Fall by La Pyae.” [from £185stg]

My beauty ethos …

“For me, true beauty comes from vitality. It comes from healthy skin, a calm mind, meaningful relationships, time spent in nature and living in a way that feels authentic. I don’t believe in chasing perfection or looking younger at any cost. I believe in supporting the body’s natural intelligence so that we look like the healthiest, most radiant version of ourselves.”
