Perfumer Linda Pilkington shares her beauty essentials, treats and favourites …
Key beauty staples/old favourites I’m never without … Lipstick, hairbrush that fits into a handbag and a Travel Perfume Spray in our house signature, Ormonde Woman [€165, set of four 10ml travel sprays]. It’s my holy trinity that instantly improves your better self.
Best beauty investments – what I spend a bit more on that’s worth it … Eve Lom cleansers [from €55]. And I use the Rescue mask [€78], removed with a hot towel, once a week, to give my skin an instant boost.
Most recent purchase … A lipstick, Violette_FR Bisou Balm in Bêtise [€35], created by make-up artist Violette Serrat, who started as an actual painter. It’s so natural-looking and sheer as well as long-lasting.
Favourite Irish beauty product … Last time I came to Ireland, one of our team who lives here recommended a face cream from Kinvara, as I had left my washbag at home. She now puts it down as her gift to me, so it lives in my travel bag. It’s as effective as it is natural. [Kinvara Active Rosehip Day Cream, €34.95]
Favourite places to shop for beauty … I do like a day out at Selfridges when it’s raining because I can counter-hop for make-up and creams, book in an eyelash tint/curl and a quick blowdry, have a glass of champagne and lunch – and you can park in the building.
All-time favourite beauty item … Vaseline Lip Therapy in Rosy Lips [from €1.29]. I buy around 10 tins and have them everywhere: handbag, kitchen drawers, make-up bag, travel bag, at work on my desk. It tints your lips a shade of pink and give you an instant boost. I put it on my lips as soon as I wake up and brush my hair.
I’m coveting … Olverum bath oil and bodycare [from €32 at www.luia.eu] as a special evening treat.
The loveliest perfume bottle on my dressing table … I have a limited-edition Elsa Peretti perfume bottle made for Tiffany. It’s tiny and fits into the palm of your hand, like a pebble.
My home fragrance … My fave is Champaca candle by Ormonde Jayne, the frangipani diffusers and new Casablanca Lily room spray for all the bathrooms.
One foundation I swear by … Jane Iredale. It’s a mineral powder [€65] that covers up every blemish and uneven skin tones but looks completely natural. People always ask me if I am wearing make-up and compliment my skin.
My beauty ethos … Don’t overwhelm your skin. Cleanse well at night and use a nourishing night cream; it does not have to be expensive. In the morning, just wash your face with warm water and a flannel. Nothing else – you cleaned your skin the night before. For day time, use an SPF30. Keep it simple.
Ormonde Jayne is available online and at Parfumarija, Westbury Mall, Dublin 2.
