Buzzed-about Irish womenswear designer Róisín Pierce has expanded into accessories. Pierce, who has been embraced by both fashion insiders and It girls alike (Alexa Chung wore one of her ethereal creations to the Met Gala), can now add accessories savant to her CV; collaborating with French mid-range handbag brand Polène on a limited collection of nappa leather bags. The collection, titled Button Bow, was unveiled at Pierce’s catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week: the grandeur of the Irish embassy made the perfect backdrop for the runway reveal.

A graduate of the National College of Art & Design (NCAD), Pierce said the handbags are: “imagined in box and sphere silhouettes, each bag is wrapped with looped bows and neat buttons that run onto the next; the delicate meeting a fresh, clean edge”.
The collection comprises of two styles of sculptural nappa leather bags, handcrafted by Polène in Ubrique, Spain. The first, a delicate sphere shape. The second, a camera-style box bag; both with bow and button detailing. The dreamy aesthetic is synonymous with Pierce’s romantic look, with razor sharp attention to detail and craftsmanship. The bags are hand-stitched by artisans into an elegant lattice design. In fact, each limited edition piece has been designed as much as an objet d’art as a chic carry-all.
The Irish fashion designer also teamed up with milliner Stephen Jones on a collection of avant-garde hats this season, describing them as; “The bow and berry world of halos and coronets, with white cotton snowberries looped with ribbons, twirling in connette form”.
The Polène + Róisín Pierce collaboration will be available to buy from April. Sign up for updates on the collection here.
