Revive your hair with these tried and tested shampoos, conditioners, masks and more …
With so many haircare products on the market, it’s hard to know which is worth the investment or is just hyped up marketing buzz. To ensure 2025 is your best hair year yet, we’ve put together our favourite tried and tested products that make a big difference in helping us keep our locks in peak condition.
Whether you’re looking for a new conditioner or need to go deeper with a molecule repair mask, we have narrowed down the options to these holy grail hair care picks that have become permanent fixtures in our bathrooms. This best-in-show selection has done everything from extending the life of our blow dries to helping us to maintain colour or revitalise our dehydrated locks after dyeing.
Don’t worry if you neglected your hair last year, this list of haircare saviours provides everything you need to deeply cleanse, moisturise and intensely condition your strands to get them back looking healthier than ever.
Pre-Shampoo
When your hair is feeling dry and brittle, most of us focus on investing in a good conditioner or hair mask, but to really improve the quality of your hair you need to add in a pre-shampoo treatment. While this extra step is slightly more time-consuming, it really makes a difference in the long-term and makes your hair easier to manage. If you have never tried the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Intensive Treatment, it’s one of those products you can’t believe you ever lived without. Originally created especially for Audrey Hepburn, it’s packed full of nourishing oils and hydrolysed elastin. Apply it on damp hair and leave it on for 20 minutes or overnight. After continued use, it helps to bring back the shine and bounce to your hair. The Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector is another one of our go-tos when our hair needs some serious restoration. We love this to repair our hair after colouring or excessive heat damage from straightening or curling. If you are looking to grow your hair, a scalp scrub is also a great option.

Olaplex no.3 hair perfector, from €29.50, at Space NK.

Grow Gorgeous scalp detox scrub, €18, at Look Fantastic.
Deep Clean
Depending on where you live, the water quality in your area may be to blame for most of your hair woes. Hard water is full of minerals such as calcium and magnesium that can leave your hair dry and difficult to style. You can generally see the difference in your hair after just one wash as it feels flatter. It also causes a build-up on your scalp (you may have noticed the limescale in the kettle from hard water) which is why you you’ll want to use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of brittle-looking hair and make it feel soft again.
Our top pick to give your hair and scalp a deep cleanse is the L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Metal Detox Shampoo which not only provides a thorough shampoo, but also works to neutralise water-induced copper deposits, making it a must-have for those who swim in chlorinated pools regularly. If you have coloured hair, Kevin Murphy’s Detox Shampoo works like a dream to maintain your hair’s vibrancy. Reach for Ouai’s offering if you suffer from an itchy, flakey scalp.

If it’s softness and shine you are after, a good hair mask is essential. We have fallen in love with the entire Oribe line and its heavenly scented products. We use their Repair & Restore conditioner once a week as an extra special treat, while the Aveda Nutriplenish conditioner is our go-to when our hair is feeling dry and thirsty for moisture. Finally, we rely on the Pureology conditioner for coloured-hair to keep our colour looking salon fresh.

Intense Treatments
If dyeing and styling has taken its toll on your hair, we highly recommend introducing a molecule repair mask to reverse any extreme damage. We fell in love with the K18 leave-in mask due to its unrivalled ability to revive our hair and make it feel healthy again. If you straighten or curl your hair, this L’Oreal mask also provides heat protection, while the Redken bonding treatment’s lightweight texture is ideal for fine hair.

Holiday Hair
Along with SPF, these hair protectors are always one of the first things we pack before heading abroad. When it comes to conditioning your hair after extensive sun, salt and chlorine water exposure, there is only one option for us — Kerastase’s Apres Soleil range. This hair recovery mask has been infused with coconut water and is safe to use on coloured hair. It helps to reconstruct hair and leave it feeling smoother, without feeling heavy. After rinsing, we finish off our haircare routine with a tiny spritz of the Balmain or Nuxe sun and chlorine protection spray to help keep frizz at bay.
