DITL At Copenhagen Fashion Week With Johanna Dooley

Johanna Dooley, co-founder of fashion rental platform Greens Are Good For You and To Dye For By Johanna, on a day in the life at Copenhagen Fashion Week …

Biking, bread, cheese – oh, and multiple outfit changes, plus meeting the coolest people – are just a few of the reasons why Copenhagen Fashion Week is always my favourite event. This year marked my fifth consecutive year attending, so if I can keep going until I’m 90 I’ll know I lived life to the fullest!

Everyone brings their unique, personal style to the table, which is what makes this fashion week stand out from places like London, Paris or New York.

My favourite part of CPHFW (aside from being with my bestie, Kara, of course!) is tough to pick, but the people and street style are high on my list. It’s not just about the brands; it’s about individuals. I could people-watch all week long.

Remain

The day kicked off at Remain, where they served up bread with creamed butter (a go-to CPH breakfast) and previewed coats. I tried to figure out how to squeeze a coat into my already overflowing case (the struggle was real) and made my way to Skall Studio for the show.

Copenhagen Fashion Week is where the BEST people-watching occurs. Although the street style had taken a break from its usual colourful palette, I still managed to hunt some down amongst the notable neutrals.

MKDT Studio and Pico

Next stop, the MKDT Studio Show where sleek silhouettes and subtle colour palettes stole the spotlight. Think minimalism with a cool, Scandi-twist. A quick pit stop at Pico to pick up hair accessories. A must if you’re planning a trip here.

Fillipa K

Then it was time for Fillipa K’s presentation at their stunning store. A blend of sharp tailoring and bold trouser shapes made a powerful statement, and I couldn’t get enough of the corduroy and shearling looks showcased throughout the week.

Munthe Show

By my third outfit change, I was off to the Munthe show. The vibe was very ’70s with faux fur, slim scarves, cord and duffel coats. I wanted to step back in time.

Baum und Pferdgarten

The last show of the day was Baum und Pferdgarten, where the runway was filled with dresses in slim silhouettes, adorned with bows and lots of sequins and ruffles. Denim has always been an essential component to the Scandinavian uniform, so the polka dot denim combo is my favourite look of the week.

The day ended with a cheers and I left feeling motivated, inspired and, best of all, my cheeks hurt from smiling …

TOP TRENDS OF THE WEEK

Polka dots, bag charms and hair accessories were everywhere. As a huge fan of all three, I was in street-style heaven. Whether it was a colourful ponytail accessory or an oversize charm hanging from a statement bag, it’s clear that these small, fun details are having a big moment. @johannadooley
