Surrealist New York photographer Lee Miller (on the left, above, having breakfast in bed in her studio in Paris with friend Tanja Ramm in 1931), bravely captured for Vogue the horrors of World War II. Famously photographed in Hitler’s bath shortly after the end of the war, Miller, now the subject of a film, Lee, retreated to her house in East Sussex (you can visit) to raise her son, tend her garden, cook, read and entertain friends.
